Changing Seasons

The 8th Annual Duluth Senior Expo was a tremendous success! We had a sold out exhibit hall and by all accounts an increase of about 15% in total attendance from 2009! New this year was a performance by old rock favorites Sh-Boom and a fashion show by Coldwater Creek!
Planning is well under way for next years 9th Annual Show.

The Engwall's Corn Maze has been a success beyond imagination. It was a real "hoot" (as Rod would say) working with Engwalls owner Rod Saline and Deb Paaso from LP on this project. It was a great feeling to present Northern Lakes Food Bank with a cash donation that will provide over 20,000 meals for hungry Northlanders this winter. It's so rewarding to present a fun and successful production and to be able to help those that need help at the same time.

Music Music Music.....speaking of annual activities, work is nearly completed on "A Christmas by the Lake-Volume IV." The response this year was overwhelming as we had a record number of songs submitted for the CD! After almost wearing my Bose headphones out I've come up with 21 songs that I think give a pretty good snapshot of our regional talent. From Silver Bells to Silent Night and Santa Baby - there are some pretty awesome performances. The CD Release Party is Thursday November 18th from 6PM to 8:30PM at the Greysolon Plaza Moorish Room. ALL proceeds from the sale of the CD goes to the Northern Lights Foundation, an organization that helps families of children with life threatening illnesses throughout the region. What a wonderful and noble cause.

More Music......The ShowPro Booking Agency Returns! We are working with a great band LAKE CITY (formerly the Lake City Smokin' Section) and also developing some great young high school talent from ROCK THE MALL! This project is particularly exciting as I'm working with entertainment industry veteran Rose Hoene and my oldest son Tylar Lundeen!

The 23rd Annual Duluth Bridal Show is Saturday January 8th! Lots of fresh info at duluthbridalshow.com. More on that next blog.

Tune in to Talk of the Town on KOOL 101.7 every Saturday morning at 7AM. We're having a lot of fun and presenting some pretty interesting people to Northland listeners.

BURTON CUMMINGS TO APPEAR ON TALK OF THE TOWN WITH TRACY LUNDEEN THIS SATURDAY MORNING

Duluth, MN ….This Saturday morning Burton Cummings, lead singer of The Guess Who (1965 to 1975) who sang, wrote and co-wrote some of the biggest hits of that era including “American Woman,” “No Time,” “Share the Land,” “Hand Me Down World,” “Undun,” “Laughing,” “Star Baby”, “No Sugar Tonight,” and “These Eyes” will appear on Talk of the Town with Tracy Lundeen.

After a nearly 20 year absence from the recording studio Cummings has released a new album titled “Above the Ground.” Above The Ground, marks 20 years since his last such album was released in the U.S.
Canadian rock royalty, Cummings had enjoyed seven previous solo studio albums from 1976 to 1990. North of the border, four of them went double platinum or better, and two others gold, including 1990's Plus Signs. That album boasted two of his six Top 10 Canadian Adult Contemporary hits in a solo career that has seen 16 Top 40 AC hits -- two #1s among them. The 1994 retrospective The Burton Cummings Collection was subsequently a best-seller. Cummings then toured with a reformed version of The Guess Who from 2000 to 2003, and since 2005 has occasionally performed and recorded with Randy Bachman, co-founder of the original group (and later of Bachman-Turner Overdrive), as the Bachman-Cummings Band, which released a pair of albums and toured with Bon Jovi.
Cummings is revered in his homeland: In 2009 he was named to the Order of Canada, the country's highest civilian honor, given to those with a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to community and service to the nation.

In addition to talking about the new album Lundeen and Cummings will touch on the Guess Who’s early years including regional music influences and their appearances at the Duluth National Guard Armory.

The interview, scheduled to air at 7:30AM this Saturday morning can be heard on KOOL101.7FM or www.kool1017.com.

ShowPro is Back!

ROCK THE MALL is scheduled for August 12th at the Miller Hill Mall in Duluth. I've been thinking alot about the foundation of Lundeen Productions and everything goes back to ShowPro! For 30 years ShowPro was a name at the forefront of regional entertainment. Whether it was concerts, dances, recordings, radio broadcasts or whatever.....ShowPro was out in front leading the way.

About a half dozen years ago I mothballed the name as we got more and more in to promoting "non music" expo's and rebranded my company "Lundeen Productions." Now, yearning a bit to get back to my roots, I've decided it's time to throw out the mothballs and bring back ShowPro.

Having said that I don't want to confuse anything so it's not my intention to go back into full fledged concert and festival promotion. I think we have enough to do at LP already. My focus, at least for now, with ShowPro will be to help promote younger music talents in the region. Get them some opportunities to perform before audiences and show what they can do.

The first event will be ROCK THE MALL. This will be a big back to school event and party (as we are billing it)on Thursday August 12th at the Miller Hill Mall in Duluth. We are going to turn the food court at the mall into a concert venue and showcase a number of regional talents that will be selected from a social media competition on Facebook. We will ask musician/performers to submit videos of them performing and we'll have people vote on line as to who they like. The top vote getters will be invited to perform at ROCK THE MALL. We will then have live judges, audience voting and a few other "twists" to pick the overall winner.

Ok, we call it ROCK THE MALL but its not just limited to rock music or rock bands. Singles, Duos, Trios, Groups and Bands can participate. Catch? You have to be 18 or under! Many more details coming soon.

Meeting the Masses

Marketing your business in the 21st Century is not as simple as it used to be. Just a decade ago you could buy an ad in the newspaper, yellow pages or on the radio or TV and if you had the right message and product your phone would ring and customers would come in the door. Not necessarily so anymore! Today with the volatile economy and media market saturated with conventional radio, satellite radio, internet, traditional newspaper, television, cable television, satellite television, social media and so much more where does a person turn to market their business?

You can make amazing new connections and bring hundreds of new potential customers to your business by participating in one of our EXPOS. Each of our expos offers a unique opportunity to network with over a hundred other businesses and meet thousands of potential customers FACE to FACE! Targeted marketing at its finest. No guessing, these are businesses and attendees that are at the expo because they are looking for products and services that you have! Mix expo marketing and other guerrilla marketing methods with a smart blend of traditional media and you have the recipe for success provided you have a product or service the public wants!
